What is the best comeback you used on someone?

In the ’70s to ’90s I was a paramedic in San Francisco, where those of us employed by the City were public safety officers. I took a friend camera shopping in a neighborhood with many small shops for photo and other electronic equipment. At one shop, my friend found a camera she liked, and got a price from the salesperson, but wanted shop a couple other stores before deciding.

My friend got the camera at the price she was originally quoted.

We returned a short time later, and the salesperson refused to sell her the camera for the price he had quoted. When I challenged him, he said “I’ll call the police.” I displayed my badge, and said “The phone number is 553–0123. Would you like the number for the district station? You can tell them badge number xxx is here with you.”

I think that being gay is wrong, but I treat gay people respectfully like any other person. Is it homophobic? Or offensive in any kind of way? Aren’t disagreement and discrimination two different things?
